Yes. Visit the Offers Hub and Bank Guides for travel offers, card-linked savings, and UPI or promo-led deal pages.

What is an insurance excess (deductible) on a rental car?

The excess is the amount you are liable for if the car is damaged or stolen, even with basic Collision Damage Waiver included - commonly 1,000-3,000 EUR in Europe. You can reduce it to zero by buying the rental desk's excess waiver, or more cheaply with standalone excess-reimbursement insurance purchased before travel. In Ireland, note that many US credit-card CDW benefits are not accepted.

Why does the rental company block a deposit on my credit card?

At pickup the rental desk places a pre-authorisation hold - typically the excess amount plus the rental cost - on the driver's credit card. The hold is released after the car is returned undamaged, which can take 5-15 business days depending on your bank. Most companies require a credit card in the main driver's name; debit cards are often refused or trigger mandatory full insurance.

Can I take a rental car across borders or on a ferry?

Only with the rental company's written permission, usually for a cross-border fee that adds required insurance coverage. Popular routes like Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland or mainland-Europe crossings are commonly allowed for a fee; ferries and some countries may be excluded entirely. Undeclared border crossings void your insurance - always declare your itinerary at booking.
